Looking Forward To An Exciting 2017

As 2017 gets under way it’s time to look back at some of the key moments over the past 12 months.

In a year when Trojan has continued to build upon the foundations established last year, we have also witnessed the very sad passing of a number of those who have long been associated with the label.

In the summer we lost Trojan stalwarts, Michael de Koningh and Dave Hendley, whose immense contributions to Trojan Records and reggae music as a whole should never be forgotten.

Jamaican legends Jimmy Riley, Nora Dean and of course Prince Buster were also taken from us as were DJ Derek and UK-based musician and producer, Jack Price, both of whom had been great friends and supporters of Trojan.

On a much happier note, it’s been a year of renewed activity, with 2017 promising to be even busier, as we gear up to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original UK Trojan label.

Among the releases already scheduled for next year are six new titles in the ‘Trojan Legends’ 2CD series, a number of newly compiled genre-themed vinyl long-players, two 7” vinyl box sets and a pair of LP box sets.

And with an ever-increasing emphasis on material currently unavailable in any format, we hope that both die-hard collectors and less serious fans alike will find something they like.

On the live front, aside from the increasingly popular Trojan club night at the Social, and boat parties there will be a number of exciting festival takeovers, while on-line, our spotify playlists will be pepped up at various times throughout the year by a series of very special guest compilers.

So for all the latest news and details of all the new releases, either keep checking here or sign up to the monthly Trojan newsletter by clicking on 'Sign Up' at the top of the page.

In the meantime, we would like to thank all of those who have continued to support Trojan over the years and wish you an extremely happy new year!
