Once again, we wish to sincerely apologise for the delays surrounding the release of the eagerly awaited 'Spirit Of '69' 7" vinyl box set.
As previously announced, a number of unspecified problems at the manufacturing stage have unfortunately resulted in the release of the collection being put back on a number of occassions.
While we have yet to receive specific details regarding these setbacks, we can at least to announce that stock should finally be delivered to both Pledge and the Trojan shop within the next few weeks.
It is a little too early to set a new definitive date just yet, but barring any unforeseen problems, those who pre-ordered the set should receive their copies in the very near future.
To all those who have patiently held on for the box's release, we really appreciate your support and understanding. Thank you so much.
The set, which picks up where Trojan's widely acclaimed skinhead reggae set, 'Haunted House' left off a decade ago was compiled and annotated by the late Michael de Koningh, and comprises faithful reproductions of 8 of the most collectable Trojan 7" singles from the golden age of boss sounds.
Presented in a handsomely designed box, all of the records are housed in a card sleeve that replicates the classic design of the late sixties and early seventies, while the set also includes a stylish card insert, featuring eye-catching imagery and a fascinating essay on the original ‘boss reggae’ sound and each of the singles.
With original copies of all eight discs in the collection now exchanging hands for three figure sums, ‘Spirit Of 69’ at last provides fans of the boss reggae sound the opportunity to possess some of the finest and rarest 45s of the era without needing to break the bank!
Copies can be pre-odered now from the Trojan shop and Pledge Music, who are also offering extremely limited test-pressings and acetates of the singles from the set, as well as a free download to all those who ordered the collection from them.
